Although it's birthday time again and I should be writing my yearly update on each of the kids, I have to write about what's on my heart today. As previously mentioned, we've been taking James to a Naturopathic Dr. to see if we can get him feeling better. To the average lay person, he looks like a normal kid. But to his Dad and Mom, we know that he's not been the boy God intends for him to be. He just doesn't feel well much of the time. Not knowing which Dr. to go to was first part of the dilemma. Then the Dr.'s that were recommended by friends weren't taking new patients. Then another one only does homeopathy, which we've already tried with no success. So, as a Mom I was at a standstill.
Recently James was bravely laying on the couch waiting for his Benadryl to kick in, cool cloth over his eyes so they wouldn't itch so much, eye drops already in; and I was sitting there beside him praying over him what I (we) should do. I don't want to have to rely on "Band-aid solutions" for the rest of his life, as the medical Dr. would do. Trying things on my own has gotten some results, but not really fixed anything (it's made him more comfortable, but still sluggish). So, again I was praying for direction. More of a desperate plea to God to show me what to do or where to go. Greg was in the kitchen when I was talking these thoughts out loud, and says, "why don't you take him to that Dr. my co-workers wife works for?" Umm...no one told me that (at least I didn't recall him ever telling me that.) So, after hearing a story from Greg how this co-worker of his was healed instantly, I decided to give this guy a call. The story of the co-worker was this: As a soldier in Afghanistan, this guy came home to the U.S. with sores all over his body. After going from medical Dr. to Dr., no one was able to heal them. He was given all kinds of creams and lotions, to no avail. So, since he was still out of state, he finally called his old Naturopath in his hometown, who was able to diagnose him over the phone (scurvy) and give treatment (get some fresh citrus). How simple that was, in yet it had been missed by "the experts". He'd been living on MRE's in Afghanistan, thus didn't have any fresh fruit.
I made an appointment and we saw the Dr. about a month ago. He asked a ton of questions (the appointment was 1 hour long) and then prescribed a treatment plan, which was a blend of whole food supplements and 1 homeopathic remedy. I didn't notice much difference right away, in fact I noticed he got worse the first couple weeks (he was detoxing out the bad stuff that had accumulated over time). We kept on giving the supplements as well as pushing fluids to flush out any yuckies and we are now noticing the benefits. We had our second recheck this week, in which we stopped a couple supplements and added 1 more to focus on his needs at hand. These last couple days we have a new boy!
James is now full (and overflowing) with energy. His eyes are bright, rather than dull. He's been chattering, singing, jumping and just excited all day these last 2 days. When I asked him this morning how he was, he said, "Great!" Me, "Why are you so great?" Him, "Because I feel so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so (about 20+) good!" He's been such a trooper swallowing the nasty pills he's had to. He calls the pills Papa Bear, Mama Bear, Brother Bear and Sister Bear. We are so thankful that today as Greg and I were talking about the changes in him, we both had tears of joy in our eyes. Our boy is getting better!
Then later in the evening when we were kind of worn out (as parents of 4 small children usually are come evening), and James (and the other kids) were still going strong; Greg said, "I think our new and improved James is going to give us a run for our money!" Yep, I agree, but it's soooo worth it to see him feeling better, finally! Thank you, dear Lord!!
